1931 Ford Deluxe Coupe Turing Heads in Tucson!

1931 Ford Delux CoupeMy dad, Raymond, and I restored this 1931 Ford Deluxe Coupe over a four year period. He bought the car for me when I was 15 years old. It was quite the restoration project, probably one that should not be attempted because the car was in such terrible shape!

When it came time for upholstery, there was no doubt that we would be using a LeBaron Bonney upholstery kit. We ordered new seats for the interior as well as the rumble seat, the panel kits, headliner, carpet, and top kit. Although we were very impressed with the quality, we were unsure as to the installation.

We tried to hire a local upholstery man to assist us, but he never would. Finally, we worked up enough courage to do it on our own. The panels and seats all went in smoothly. We were hesitant with the headliner and top kit because we didn’t want to mess it up. We followed the directions and soon both were installed without a wrinkle!

My wife, Sistine, and I enjoy having the car in Tucson, Arizona. It was selected to be in Hemming’s Motor News Model A calendar in 2001, has been featured in our local newspaper, and has been used in television and print commercials.
